Lets welcome you all to the world of BI aka Business Intelligence. I know this may sound new to many people who had just stepped into the IT world. But this series of tutorials will be an exciting journey even for the newbies.

All businessmen needs to analyse their position in the market and needs to know how strong or weak their business is. BI is something that offers a more handy and easiest way of analysis. Business Intelligence(BI) transforms the data into information. The very basic BI tool which was first developed was Microsoft Excel. Though after that many moer came into existence providing more functionalities and more analytical capabilities.

One of the most powerful tools for BI is QlikView. It is the product of QlikTech corp. Lets have a look to the structure and the way BI works.

Traditional BI tools involve multiple tools to perform the operation and satisfy customer’s needs whereas Qlikview alone can perform activities which involve multiple tools interference in traditional BI tools.

What is Qlikview?

Qlikview is the software or a tool that enables you to analyse your data in a much user friendly manner. This tool gets the data from all types of data sources, for eg: SQL, Oracle, IBM DB2 or be it an Excel document. It accumulates the data from the various data sources and gives us a consolidated overview of the entire business. This tool gives us a lots of options for representing the data for eg. we have lots of graphs in Qlikview to represent each type of analysis in a much different fashion.
Qlikview has the ability to link all the tables to each other so that the users can get all the related information with a single click. If a user wants to search a data for a particular entity, he may not need to have the complete idea of the database and how that data has been stored into the database. Rather he just needs to click on that entity and he could see all the related information  at one go.
It has the ability to zoom or drill the data down to its granular level. It also allows the developers to create a more interactive and clear dashboards without the need of any experts. It gives the user the flexibility to export the table or the chart to other programs so that they can further make new anaylsis.
In te next tutorial, we will look at how to download and install Qlikview on your machine. We will also understand various options when we start Qlikview.
